<h3>Corrections Officer & Juvenile Counsellor Training Program - Southwest Region</h3><p><i><strong><u>Update:</u> Application intake is ongoing for 2025 - start here to begin your journey!</strong></i></p><p>Launch your career in corrections with the Corrections Officer & Juvenile Counsellor Training Program at Manitoba Justice, in partnership with Southwest Métis Employment & Training (MET).</p><p>This 8-week program equips Red River Métis Citizens with the skills and certifications needed for rewarding roles in corrections, offering financial assistance and stipends to eligible participants.</p><h3>Program Highlights:</h3><ul><li><strong>Competitive Pay:</strong> $31.62 - $40.65 per hour</li><li><strong>Duration:</strong> 8 weeks, full-time (Monday to Friday)</li><li><strong>Locations:</strong> Winnipeg (year-round), Milner Ridge, Brandon, The Pas (as needed)</li><li><strong>Stipend:</strong> Provided during training for eligible participants</li></ul><h3>2025 Training Start Dates:</h3><ul><li>Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC): Apr 14 - Jun 11</li><li>Manitoba Youth Centre (MYC): Apr 22 - Jun 17</li><li>Jun 18 - Aug 14</li><li>Jul 28 - Sept 23</li><li>Sept 3 - Oct 30</li><li>Nov 3 - Dec 31</li></ul><h3>Minimum Requirements:</h3><ul><li>Unemployed or underemployed <strong>Red River Métis Citizen</strong> from the <strong>Southwest Region</strong>, 18+</li><li>Pass Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Child & Adult Abuse Registry Checks</li><li>Hold a full Class 5 (5F) Manitoba Driver's License</li><li>Possess Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED Certificate</li><li>Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and physical/mental readiness</li><li>Commit to an employment & training action plan</li></ul><h3>Conditions of Employment:</h3><ul><li>Must be legally entitled to work in Canada</li><li>Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry Checks)</li><li>Satisfactory Enhanced Security Screening Level 4</li><li>Satisfactory Medical Fitness Report</li><li>Full Class 5 (5F) Manitoba Driver's Licence</li><li>Minimum of Standard (Intermediate) First Aid CPR-C & AED Certificate (two day course)</li><li>The ability to work extended and flexible hours including shift work and short notice call-ins is required</li></ul><h3>Qualifications:</h3><ul><li>Effective interpersonal skills</li><li>Experience working in a team environment</li><li>Ability to manage stress</li><li>Effective problem solving, decision making and sound judgment skills</li><li>Ability to adapt to change</li><li>Ability to interact with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds</li><li>Post secondary education with directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience</li><li>Commitment to continuous learning</li><li>Experience working with Indigenous people and understanding of Indigenous culture/spirituality</li></ul><h3>Contact Us:</h3><h3><strong>Start your career in corrections today and make a difference in your community!</strong></h3>#J-18808-Ljbffr
