GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tooling:
- Design new stamping dies, robotic and manual weld fixtures, assembly fixtures and any other tooling required for production needs.
- Design modification to existing tooling for continuous improvements projects.
- Create BOMs and detailed drawings for all new designs.
- Work with the tool room and outside vendors to answer any questions/concerns with new tooling designs.
Other Engineering Activities:
- Responsible for maintaining accurate plant layouts.
- Responsible for communicating part and drawing changes to DBG.
- Complete special design projects as assigned.
- Maintain and encourage a safe work environment and good housekeeping in the Engineering Department.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Adhere to IATF and TS procedures.
- Promote and work as a team member in all situations.
- Willing to work overtime as required.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Stamping Die Design ( 3+ years of Experience).
- Robotic Weld Fixture Design (2+ years of experience).
- Projection/Spot Weld Fixture Design (2+ years of experience).
- Assembly Fixture Design (3+ years of experience).
- Understanding of different material types, their applications, and cost.
- Understanding of different fabrication techniques and where they can be applied.
- Experience quoting tools would be considered an added asset.
- Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD (NX is a bonus).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Bachelor or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 8 years’ experience in mechanical design.
- Previous experience designing metal stamping dies.
