We are seeking innovative, patient focused professionals to join our team!<br><br>We currently have opportunities for: <br><br><strong>Corporate Nurse Injection Certified (BC) - 6 month casual contract with a possibility of extension.</strong><br><br>This position is responsible for supporting the safe administration of vaccines and medications for injection (primarily influenza and COVID-19) to eligible patients.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities include:</strong><br /><ul><li>Engage with patients to select appropriate vaccines, discuss potential adverse effects, and obtain informed consent.</li><li>Administer vaccinations by injection (usually IM) in accordance with standards of practice and guidelines for various patient scenarios.</li><li>Accurately document vaccination records in IMMSBC (Immunization Management System for BC).</li><li>Maintain up-to-date knowledge of influenza and COVID-19 vaccines including public eligibility criteria, indications, and drug information.</li><li>Assist the pharmacy manager in managing vaccine and injection supply inventory.</li><li>Exercise professional judgment to ensure safe and effective healthcare services for patients.</li><li>Adhere to all regulatory, departmental, and company policies and procedures.</li><li>Potential opportunities to provide additional services throughout the year, including Point-Of-Care-Testing for health screening (additional training provided)</li></ul><strong>The successful candidates will possess the following:</strong><br /><ul><li>Trained and comfortable administering injectable vaccines to patients aged 4 years and older.</li><li>Willing to receive training and administer intranasal influenza vaccine (nasal spray) to patients aged 2 years and older, if not already experienced.</li><li>Trained to respond to emergency anaphylactic reactions, including the administration of epinephrine by injection (EpiPen).</li><li>Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) when interacting with customers, staff, and management.</li><li>Able to work both independently and collaboratively within the pharmacy team.</li><li>Highly organized, efficient, and able to multitask.</li><li>Exercises sound judgment and effective problem-solving abilities as required.</li><li>Dependable and reliable.</li></ul><strong>EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE:</strong><br /><ul><li>Completion of post-secondary education: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN).</li><li>Active registration, in good standing, with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.</li><li>Current Standard First Aid CPR Level C with AED certification.</li><li>Injection Certification.</li><li>Completion of BCCDC Immunization Competency Courses.</li><li>Experience using IMMSBC for recording vaccination information is an asset; candidates with adequate experience administering COVID-19 and/or flu vaccines may also be considered.</li><li>Good working knowledge of computers.</li></ul><strong>SCHEDULING:</strong><br /><ul><li>Flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics typically run from mid-October through December, and may continue into January if there is demand.</li><li>Possibility of optional spring COVID-19 booster programs depending on recommendations from BCCDC and BC Minister of Health.</li><li>Clinic days may be scheduled Monday through Sunday and will be coordinated with pharmacy managers and head office.</li><li>Scheduled hours vary depending on vaccine supply, public demand, and available days and locations you are willing to work. </li></ul>If you have genuine concern and care for patients and an ability to motivate and inspire others, then we have the opportunity for you to excel!<br><br><strong>Apply now!</strong><br><br>London Drugs is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce.
