As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will serve as the strategic financial leader of the organization, working alongside the current CFO in a structured transition over the next 23 years before retirement. You will oversee all departments within the company, including accounting, finance, and operational reporting, and manage a team of department heads (AR, AP, General Ledger, and others) along with 5 accounting professionals. This role is ideal for a CPA-qualified professional with a strong real estate backgroundcurrent or priorready to assume full CFO responsibilities, with exposure to both U.S. and Canadian property portfolios, entities, and accounting operations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all financial operations and departmental teams, ensuring accountability and high performance across the organization.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis across U.S. and Canadian operations.
  • Partner with the current CFO on strategic planning, capital allocation, risk management, and business growth initiatives.
  • Mentor, develop, and manage departmental heads and accounting staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and internal controls across both U.S. and Canadian entities.
  • Drive financial process improvements, automation initiatives, and technology integration (e.g., Yardi, Caseware, payroll and reporting systems).
  • Collaborate with operational and property management teams to ensure accurate accounting for property transactions, mortgages, equity investments, and joint ventures.
  • Take a leading role in long-term succession planning and assume full CFO responsibilities as the current CFO retires.
Qualifications
  • CPA designation (non-CGA) with tax experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with leadership of multi-department teams, preferably in real estate.
  • Proven track record in senior finance roles with both high-level accounting responsibilities and organizational leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of real estate accounting, financial regulations, U.S. and Canadian tax laws, payroll, and treasury functions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French, with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership, organizational, and cross-department management capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Yardi, Caseware, and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive base salary of $275,000$300,000, with OTE potential of $375,000$450,000 (flexible for exceptional candidates).
