Contract & Equipment Procurement Specialist

Introduction

Our client is seeking a temporary Contract & Equipment Procurement Specialist to support their Technical Procurement team. This role is accountable for both contract formation/administration and equipment procurement for major capital projects. The successful candidate will manage the full procurement lifecycle for services and equipment, ensuring compliance, value, and risk mitigation across multiple projects.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the Bid, Evaluate, and Award (BEA) cycle for service and equipment contracts.
  • Draft, negotiate, and administer contracts, change orders, and interagency agreements.
  • Develop and execute contract and procurement strategies, including market assessments and acquisition plans.
  • Facilitate RFPs, Invitations to Bid, and direct negotiations for equipment purchases.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Engineering, Project Controls, and other stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Review and approve invoices, ensuring compliance with contract terms.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including performance reviews and issue resolution.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing procurement expertise and documentation.
  • Maintain change order logs and support evaluation of change requests.
  • Mentor junior procurement staff as required.
  • Support project close-out and documentation for all procurement activities.


Requirements

  • University degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management (preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 3 years in equipment purchasing and contract formation for capital projects.
  • Professional certification (e.g., SCMP, CPSM) is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement processes, and equipment sourcing.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
  • Proficiency in SAP/Ariba, Icertis, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
