Being a part of Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) means you have a shared passion for supporting youth in reaching their full potential. YOU is a place where your unique background, perspectives, and talents are valued, and help innovate new program ideas to best support youth in our community.

You can make your impact here! Be part of a diverse and inclusive workplace where the work you do is truly valued. You will have the freedom to excel in your way by serving young people and knowing you are making a difference for our community.

Come be a part of a team that works alongside youth as they work on goals and be there to celebrate when they achieve those milestones. Help us continue creating a community where youth are embraced and will thrive.

Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) is seeking a consultant with extensive teaching, youth education, and curriculum building experience to design and develop an interactive, modular youth soft skills education program. The consultant will lead the creation of a practical, youth-centered curriculum focused on building the pre-established top 20 soft skills that an employer expects from a new hire (youth) with limited‑to‑no experience. These are the behavioural and workplace competencies required for youth, particularly those facing employment barriers, to successfully enter and sustain employment.

The final deliverable will be a complete, implementation‑ready soft skills curriculum that can be used repeatedly both in a classroom and online (YOUTube) across YOU programs.

This is the contractual position ending March 31, 2026.

  • Develop youth-facing learning materials that are accessible, engaging, and practical.

  • Create facilitator guides that include activities, discussion prompts, and coaching strategies.

  • Develop realistic workplace scenarios and interactive exercises aligned with employer expectations.

  • Engage youth participants to evaluate materials and incorporate feedback.

  • Collaborate with YOU staff to ensure materials are usable across service streams.

  • Finalize and compile all curriculum materials by March 31, 2026.

Required Qualifications And Experience

  • Demonstrated extensive youth teaching and curriculum building experience (e.g., Retired Teacher) – successful teaching techniques, curriculum planning & instructional design and training development.

  • Experience teaching youth, particularly those facing employment barriers.

  • Strong facilitation, consultation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage timelines and deliver high-quality work within a tight project period.

Deliverables

  • Completed modular soft skills curriculum.

  • Youth-facing materials and facilitator guides.

  • Interactive exercises and workplace scenarios.

  • Documentation of youth feedback and employer validation.

  • Final curriculum package ready for implementation across YOU programs.
