TEMPORARY COMPUTER TECHNICIAN – LEVEL 2

35 Hours Per Week – 12 Month Position – Full Time (1.0 FTE)


Effective: June 3, 2024; End Date: December 20, 2024


Qualifications

Successful completion of a two year post secondary diploma program in Computer Electronics or Information Systems, A+ Certification and Microsoft Certified Professional/Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, plus a minimum of two years of related job experience.

Strong working knowledge of server technologies.


Strong working knowledge of current versions of various software applications, operating systems and servers.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.


Ability to prioritize, multi-task workload, work independently and in a team environment.

Analytical, planning, organizational and problem-solving skills essential.


Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn emerging technologies, software and trends.

Must have reliable transportation to travel to various sites within the Board.


Ability to perform required physical tasks, including lifting computer related equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities


Install, configure and troubleshoot:

Windows and other Operating Systems as they are implemented on workstations and laptops.


Windows and other network operating systems

Educational and administrative software, as required, as they are implemented on servers, workstations, PC’s and laptops.


Maintain and upgrade all computer equipment.

Maintain and provide technical support for: LAN, Network management, all versions of operating systems on workstations and servers, all network-based computers and all standalone computers.


Maintain and provide technical support for Board personnel, as required.

Install and configure new and existing workstations, servers, PC and server devices and peripherals.


Implement software, hardware and technical solutions for Board owned computer equipment, as required.

Monitor, prioritize and respond to work orders as they occur.


Provide Help Desk support, as required.

Deploy security and upgrade solutions to servers and workstations, as required.


Contact external vendors to resolve any hardware/software/server problems or warranty issues, as they arise, ordering parts, as needed.

Establish and maintain up-to-date documentation on all operation and installation duties performed.


Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager of IT.
