Role Description
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be the operational engine of ReThink Mining — responsible for ensuring disciplined consortium creation, execution, member value, and delivery at scale. The COO will oversee daily operations, project delivery, member engagement, and global partnerships while helping shape the organisation’s strategic growth and impact. This is a fully remote role available to candidates based in any country, but ideally situated in the Americas time zones.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead the execution of consortium projects which have totalled >$70M to date, ensuring milestones and innovation outcomes are achieved.
·Strengthen engagement with 20+ global mining company members to deliver measurable value and retention.
·Oversee project governance, budgeting, financial management, and risk oversight.
·Build and expand partnerships with OEMs, technology firms, and the innovation ecosystem.
·Translate the CEO’s vision into actionable operational plans and measurable KPIs.
· Lead a small, high-performing team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
· Represent ReThink Mining at global forums, conferences, and industry events.
Qualifications
Required
· 10+ years of experience in operations, innovation, or program leadership.
· some familiarity with the mining industry, mining technology, or industrial innovation.
· Proven track record in multi-stakeholder project ideation, formation and execution (>$5M)
· Strong financial acumen, governance, and budget management experience.
·Demonstrated ability to engage C-suite executives and global stakeholders.
· Experience in technology commercialisation, innovation ecosystems, or partnerships.
· Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Preferred
· Experience within non-profit or membership-based organisations.
· Familiarity with automation, AI, or digital transformation in heavy industry.
· Advanced degree in Engineering, Geosciences, Business, or related field.
