<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Salary: $20 - $25 per hour Depending on Experience<br /><p>Overview</p><p>The Warehouse Associate is a vital member of the Food Security Team aiding in the coordination of collecting, processing, and re-distributing rescued food product from our grocery partners to various streams including (but not exclusive to) the Food Share Network agencies, The MSSC Market, and the meal programs at our Queens location. The Warehouse Associate must demonstrate exemplary organization, and communication skills as they will work under the direction of the Food Security Manager and Food Rescue Manager to execute the smooth flow of product between The Mustard Seeds various locations as well as providing logistical support to The Mustard Seeds events and outreach programs.</p><p><br /></p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Preparing and labeling daily orders</li><li>Serving FSN agencies, which includes communicating with agency rep, building orders in an efficient and equitable way</li><li>Using the scale and corresponding scale program to record incoming and outgoing weights</li><li>Health and Safety follow safe work practices and cleanliness</li><li>Effective communication with donors, vendors, partner agencies, staff, volunteers and general public etc</li><li>Attending and participating in all relevant staff/team meetings and training opportunities as available</li><li>Supporting the Food Security Manager with the orientation, training and oversight of food rescue <span >volunteers/students</span> working in the various stations in the warehouse as needed</li><li>Proper sorting of bread into various streams for farmer pickup or distribution to agencies</li><li>General cleanliness of all areas of the warehouse</li><li>Supporting the drivers with certain tasks as available-ie safe unloading of the trucks when they are behind schedule, or assisting with taking out the cardboard bins</li><li>Occasional data collection and entry; organization of incoming and outgoing product</li><li>Occasional event support (as needed) which could include evenings and/or weekends</li><li>Occasional kitchen support (as needed) which could include lunch dishes, sweeping and mopping of floors</li><li>Communicate with The Market team for daily orders of perishable and non-perishable food</li><li>Participate in annual employee and program evaluation processes;</li><li>Other duties as required;</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p><br /></p><p>Key Competencies </p><ul><li>Task Oriented;</li><li>Ability to stand/walk entire shift; ability to lift 20lbs regularly and up to 50lbs occasionally</li><li>Adaptive and flexible;</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills;</li><li>Ability to work under pressure and prioritize effectively;</li><li>Ability to work in a group environment and also as an individual;</li><li>Ability to think systematically;</li><li>Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills;</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills;</li><li>Ability to meet tight deadlines;</li><li>Ability to take positive initiative and provide recommendations; solutions focused</li><li>Team player; leads by example;</li><li>Creative and thoughtful;</li><li>Strong and demonstrable work ethic;</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>Success Indicators</p><ul><li>Evidence of proactive planning, continuous improvement, and strategic thinking</li><li>Efficiency, Safety and Organization are respected as part of the culture for the team</li><li>Satisfaction from FSN members (based on feedback)</li><li>Evidence of improved professional communication practice</li><li>Increased productivity within warehouse team; room created for new initiatives</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>Qualifications</p><ul><li>Required Current forklift and power jack certification with experience completing daily inspection sheets (or willingness to obtain ASAP)</li><li>Required Acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance</li><li>Required Computer Skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office suit; competency in data collection, entry, and project management software</li><li>Required Acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance;</li><li>Required Medical Clearance letter</li><li>Assets: Standard First Aid and CPR-C; WHIMIS; Food Safe; Food Handling Safety</li><li>Asset Drivers License and acceptable abstract</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>Terms of Employment</p><ul><li>Must be willing to sign the staff code of conduct</li><li>Must read and agree to following The Mustard Seed policies which are a living, changing document</li><li>This position reports to: Food Security Manager</li><li>Term: Casual, On Call</li><li>Shift range: Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm; additional event support as needed</li><li>Must provide an acceptable criminal record check, including the level of clearance required to work with vulnerable people</li><li>Must provide completed Medical Assessment form from your Medical Practitioner</li></ul><p></p><p></p></p></p>
