Job Description
About this job:
The Business Data Analyst will be responsible for the analysis, development, and support of all outgoing client data files for processing in PartnerRe systems. Data is produced in various file formats and usually includes transaction, in force, valuation and underwriting files, which have process streams that vary by function.
- Support the PartnerRe monthly retro billing process (including account and data reconciliations, exception handling, account booking).
- Update accounting system to track retro premium and commission accounts. Find and correct any discrepancies.
- Identify/present variances, account trending, premium calculations/verifications and draw conclusions from the findings.
- Ensure monthly retro processing continue to meet stated metrics. Responsibilities include data/plan mapping (including entry and verification of manual data loads) for all clients, investigation and resolution of client issues, and accounting loads/verification.
- Create, maintain and test the ETL scripts used for acquiring, transforming and loading into PartnerRe systems/tools.
- Analyze and design management reporting as defined by management. Write VBA code, macros, and SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and distribute data.
- Document all TAI processes and procedures put into production.
- Adhere to all IT controls and security established by IT management.
- Ensure the Team Lead is informed of ongoing work activities and any unusual circumstances to ensure quality and timely deliverables.
- Assist other teams within North American Life Operations when necessary including, claims, assumed and reporting teams.
- Assist Valuation and Pricing with requests for data and data inquiries. Analyzing discrepancies and providing documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, initiate internal reports and create efficiencies to improve data quality.
- Liaise with Underwriting for data checking, management reporting, and discussion on results for Retro business (including facultative applications).
- Assist with Enhancement Projects including creation of project, testing and preparation for deployment. Defect/bug discovery and acceptance testing for the administration system. Document testing and outcomes and liaise with other departments to ensure tasks and bugs are completed to specifications.
- Participation in client visits.
- Communicate with clients to facilitate transmission of monthly transaction files and address any questions/clarifications regarding data issues with clients.
- Support client audits (desk and on-site audits).

Qualifications and Experience
- 1-4 years of experience in a financial institution with some data management expertise
- 1-3 years of TAI Experience
- Knowledge of insurance industry is a plus
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree in business or STEM disciplines
- Basic knowledge of audit & quality assurance principles
- Interpersonal skills and relationship management
- Proficient in SQL, MS Office, Alteryx
- Some experience with VBA
- Basic French language skills is a plus
