As an Analyst, Finance & Operations you’ll report directly to the VP Finance and Administration, taking the lead on analysis, metrics and supporting finance work to help propel key aspects of the Finance, Reporting and Operations support functions. What You’ll Do:
• Assume a key role in driving month and year-end close processes including operations systems, schedules, reports, analysis and financial reporting functions. Preparation includes monthly bank reconciliations, and other balance sheet and income statement analyses and support.
• Generate and analyze key financial and operational reports and deliver monthly including finance, billing, operations, customer QBRs, sales reports, commissions calculations, etc.
• Assist with preparation of yearly Budget, monthly comparisons, and quarterly forecasts.
• Assist in preparing for and providing information for annual financial statement review, and tax return preparation by external firm (2 entities).
• Perform carrier invoice audit and supporting back up review (freight audit), matching and processing transactions in our Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Manage the freight claims processing function including of minimizing liability where possible, maintaining Customer and Carrier communications and resolution on a timely basis.
• Collaborate with operations, finance, billing, HR, and taxation teams to ensure compliance with reporting, internal controls and regulatory requirements including managing COI requests from Customers.
• Generate, analyze and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for various areas of business.
• Manage and deliver monthly external reporting to Customer including both regular and ad hoc reports.
• Ensure compliance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist in development of new best practices and SOPs to improve efficiency of the business.
• Assist with various projects such as EDI implementations, BI application tool, Financial reporting tools, ERP enhancement or replacement including selection and implementations.
• Provide vacation coverage on tasks such as EFT payments, daily TMS exports, selected AR & AP transaction processing.
• Other Finance, technology and administration department duties as needed.
• Help meet pre-defined Finance and Administration Department KPIs.
What You Bring:
• A post-secondary degree or diploma – You have the foundation to think strategically and tackle challenges effectively
• 3+ years of experience in transportation or logistics in Finance capacity – You know the industry inside and out and deliver real results
• Experience working with accounting and TMS systems (QuickBooks Enterprise, UFOS a plus)
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and v-look up functions required.
• Experience with Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, Teams, Power Point) and Adobe
• Additional accounting and/or financial courses, as well as bilingual considered an asset.
