Job Description
<p>The Afterschool leader is responsible for supervising and engaging students in an after-school program. This role involves creating a safe, supportive, and enriching environment that fosters the social, emotional, and academic development of children. The Afterschool leader will work closely with other staff members, parents, and the community to ensure a positive experience for all participants.</p><p>Key Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Supervision and Safety:</li><li>Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during the after-school program.</li><li>Monitor student behavior and enforce program rules and policies.</li><li>Conduct regular safety checks of the facility and report any concerns.</li><li>Program Planning and Implementation:</li><li>Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities and lessons that promote learning and social development.</li><li>Plan and organize recreational activities, such as sports, arts and crafts, and educational games.</li><li>Adapt activities to meet the diverse needs and interests of students.</li><li>Student Engagement and Support:</li><li>Build positive relationships with students and serve as a mentor and role model.</li><li>Provide individual support to students as needed</li><li>Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and teamwork.</li><li>Communication:</li><li>Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and any issues that arise.</li><li>Collaborate with fellow staff members to ensure a cohesive and effective program.</li><li>Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.</li><li>Administrative Tasks:</li><li>Maintain accurate records of attendance, incident reports, and other relevant documentation for Licensing.</li><li>Assist with the preparation and distribution of program materials and supplies.</li><li>Ensure compliance with all relevant Child Care Licensing regulations and policies.</li></ul><p>Qualifications:</p><ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's or bachelor's degree in education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.</li><li>Previous experience working with children in a school or recreational setting.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Ability to manage a diverse group of students and address their varying needs.</li><li>Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in after-school programming.</li><li>First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.</li></ul><p>Physical Requirements:</p><ul><li>Ability to lift and carry up to (specific weight, e.g., 25 pounds).</li><li>Capability to engage in physical activities with children, including outdoor play.</li><li>Ability to stand, sit, and move around for extended periods.</li></ul><p>Additional Information:</p><ul><li>Criminal Record Check required.</li><li>Flexibility in work hours may be necessary to accommodate program schedules.</li></ul><p>Job Type: Part-time</p><p>Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour</p><p>Expected hours: 25 per week</p><p>Benefits:</p><ul><li>Dental care</li><li>Extended health care</li></ul><p>Work Location: In person</p>
