Your Opportunity:

Forensic Assessment & Community Services (FACS) has an exciting opportunity for an Addictions Counselor III. Reporting to the Care Manager of FACS, this position will act as a member of multidisciplinary teams providing evidence and recovery-based treatment services, aligned with best practices, policy, legislation, and standards within an outpatient, forensic community mental health clinic. The Addictions Counselor III is responsible for specialized treatment addressing alcohol, drug, and gambling concerns, including assessment, case management, workshop development and facilitation, and both group and individual counseling. Responsibilities also include collaborating with colleagues on program development, research, and quality improvement initiatives. This role supports facilitation of intimate partner violence groups; knowledge of intimate partner violence is an asset. The position works closely with community stakeholders, providing consultative and educational services, along with case management for clients with complex needs. Description:

As an Addictions Counselor III, you will deliver quality, client-focused, recovery-oriented, and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education, and referral services for clients and families, along with community stabilization. You will develop and implement treatment plans, providing interventions that are least intrusive and most appropriate, while monitoring and evaluating client progress towards recovery goals, adapting treatment as needed. Success depends on your excellent relationship-building skills with clients, families, colleagues, and government staff.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Addictions or a related field, or a combination of a bachelor's degree with coursework in addictions. An associated diploma or equivalent experience may be considered. Active registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) is required, along with necessary authorization for restricted interventions.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. NVCI or registration in the next available course is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with electronic medical records (Connect Care), virtual therapy platforms (Zoom), and proficiency in Microsoft Office are assets.
