Role Description


The accountant will play a key role in managing full-cycle accounting function. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional with a background in construction.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance, including managing PO process.
  • Process weekly payroll
  • Assist with month-end process.
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Prepare HST filings and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Prepare Union dues reports
  • Reconciles the general ledger accounts and prepares journal entries.
  • Reconciles monthly inter-company transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of WIP reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management reports.
  • Assist the accounting department with day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Assist with the year-end audit, including preparation of supporting documents.
  • Filing and maintaining accounting files
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in full-cycle accounting processes.
  • Solid understanding of HST and tax compliance regulations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.


Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting from a recognized Canadian Education Institution (College or University);
  • Minimum 2 years experience
  • Fluent in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365.
  • Proficient in working in QuickBooks Online;
  • Ability to commute to our Vaughan
