Role Description
The accountant will play a key role in managing full-cycle accounting function. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional with a background in construction.
Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance, including managing PO process.
- Process weekly payroll
- Assist with month-end process.
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliation.
- Prepare HST filings and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Prepare Union dues reports
- Reconciles the general ledger accounts and prepares journal entries.
- Reconciles monthly inter-company transactions.
- Assist with the preparation of WIP reports.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management reports.
- Assist the accounting department with day-to-day accounting operations.
- Assist with the year-end audit, including preparation of supporting documents.
- Filing and maintaining accounting files
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in full-cycle accounting processes.
- Solid understanding of HST and tax compliance regulations.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
- Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting from a recognized Canadian Education Institution (College or University);
- Minimum 2 years experience
- Fluent in English.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365.
- Proficient in working in QuickBooks Online;
- Ability to commute to our Vaughan
